| I
first met Valérie through her role as a breastfeeding support
mother. We came in contact through the CLSC Lac Saint-Louis where
I had requested the help of a breastfeeding support mother. Her
very accurate and invaluable breastfeeding advice was of great
help to me before, during and after the birth of our son, Chad.
She was always available to help me, to answer all my questions
and to provide useful advice on a mutlitude of topics related
to my new role as a mother.
At
about 6 weeks of age, Chad, like the great majority of babies,
experienced colic. It was at that time that Valérie spoke to me
about infant chiropractic care. We visited Valérie at her office
where she treats both moms AND babies. She treated Chad for six
sessions and his colic diminished by 75%. Afterwards, she also
noticed that Chad suffered from thrush (a fact that my pediatrician
had not noticed himself). With the natural products she suggested,
the condition disappeared and Chad was in great shape.
Valérie
has also become my own chiropractor and since then my migraines
have all but disappeared…what a relief!
Valérie
was and continues to be a “mentor” for me. I admire, respect and
appreciate her. Valérie is a woman who offers a great deal of
knowledge due to her personal experience with her own children,
breastfeeding and chiropractic treatment.
I
recommend Valérie to all mothers who are experiencing difficulties
or have questions regarding breastfeeding, who have challenging
babies (pain, colic, thrush, etc) and for their own chiropractic
care.

I
was somewhat discouraged and worried about my 2 year old son’s
obstinate ear infection, which was resistant to 5 doses of antibiotics,
and concerned about his congenital torticollis when I decided
to seek help outside of the realm of traditional medicine as it
clearly was not providing the solutions I was seeking.
My
pharmacist, a very interesting woman, mentioned Dr. Lavigne suggesting
that she may be able to help my son. Dr. Lavigne has been treating
my son ever since.
It
is with great pleasure that I am sharing this testimonial as she
has in fact been able to address my son’s problem and has offered
solutions that I can be comfortable with. Meeting Dr. Lavigne
has been a real blessing! Anthony just loves his treatment sessions,
for him it is an opportunity to relax, he participates actively
and with pleasure.
The
ambiance during treatments is always one of joy and tenderness.
In terms of efficiency, I was stunned to notice a net improvement
in his torticollis in a very short period of time. As for his
ear infection, recovery has been made difficult by an endless
4 month cold (coinciding with the start of daycare). However,
Dr. Lavigne’s treatments have allowed us to avoid the use of antibiotics
as well as ear tubes and to stabilize his condition,i.e. between
each “wave” of the cold he recovers well, which is huge in my
books. Dr. Lavigne’s chiropractic care offers obvious and tangible
well-being to my little guy while providing me with great relief
as I am finally seeing results!
Thank
you for your great care Valérie!

Dear
Valérie,
Just
a quick note to thank you SOOO much for everything that you are
doing for me.
When
we first met you told me that you could provide relief for my migraines, I figured “why not…I’ve tried so many other venues”…
Well
today I can say that I never want to go without your care again.
Your treatments have changed my life – I went from suffering from
migraines for days at a time to just a few episodes that are easily
treated.
Thank
you again for the relief you have provided. I have finally found
a solution and I can go back to leading a normal life.
See
you soon!

LOVE
AND PERSEVERANCE
I
gave birth to an amazing little girl on August 25th. I planned
to breastfeed her exclusively for six months and had idealized
breastfeeding in my mind. Unfortunately, I faced numerous obstacles.
At the hospital, I suffered from huge cracks on my breasts because
my daughter was not latching on properly. About three weeks later,
after much pain, we discovered that her lingual frenulum was too
short and decided to have it severed. However, during these first
three weeks my daughter had become used to latching on poorly.
We had to work very hard to correct this problem. To make matters
worse, I suffered from thrush (yeast infection) which tenaciously
logged itself through the cracks in my breast. We tried everything
to get rid of this condition: Gentian Violet, creams, etc. We
finally had to resort to prescription medication.
Because of all these problems, my milk production decreased and
I started to menstruate again. My daughter then went on a nursing
strike (sometimes the taste of a mother’s milk changes due to
hormonal changes during menstruation). Already somewhat underweight
compared to average, she ceased to gain weight (she was not loosing
weight but neither was she gaining) and fussed fiercely at the
breast. Following a consultation with a chiropractor (who is also
a lactation consultant) to treat her congenital torticollis, it
was determined that my milk production had decreased significantly.
The
chiropractor recommended herbal remedies (Fenugreek and Knapweed,
which taken together help increase milk production). This helped
but my milk production was so low that I had to take the prescription
medication Domperidone to help increase it. Since then, everything
has been going very well. Breastfeeding is finally enjoyable
and calm…as I had initially envisioned. My daughter is now 6 months
old and breastfeeding has been problem-free for the last 3 months.
During
these last 3 months, many people have tried to discourage me from
continuing to breastfeed or to convince me that my attempts were
useless. However, I was determined to give my daughter the very
best I had to offer. I am very proud of myself and have now decided
to continue to breastfeed while introducing solids and furthermore
to breastfeed until she is 9 months or maybe even one year old.
To those who are experiencing difficulties, I have two words for
you when it comes to breastfeeding: LOVE AND PERSEVERANCE.
Many thanks to my partner and to all those who supported, encouraged
and guided me towards the right resources at the right time, this
greatly helped me to hang in there and persevere!

Our
3.5 yr old son OT suggested chiropractic care for him. He suffers
with developmental delays and other neurological issues.
Dre. Lavignes quick and easy rapport with children eased
our concerns that he would not be able to tolerate care.
Since starting several months ago, he has made significant overall
gains. Now our entire family is being treated and we are enjoying
our healthiest winter yet...we are walking proof of the neurolgical
and immunological benefits of chiropractic care. We plan to continue
this quick, easy and natural treatment for a lifetime!

My
name is Michelle Sanders, and I was blessed with a baby girl,
Bethany, Feb. 26, 2005. Bethany was 2 weeks early and didn't
latch well at the start. She was my first child, so I didn't
realize how important a good latch was. It would take her
an hour and a half to nurse at each session. I was exhausted
with very sore, cracked, infected nipples. I consulted a
lactation consultant and the LLL leader in my area, but they were
unable to help Bethany to latch better. In desperation I
contacted my good friend and collegue, Dr. Valerie Lavigne, in
Montreal. Valerie is an excellent chiropractor and has now
completed her certification in lactation consulting. So,
with my baby only 6 weeks old, we flew from Manitoba to Montreal
for Valerie's help. She was able to help me to get Bethany
to latch properly and I was prescribed some medication and cream
to help my nipples heal. I was amazed at how quickly things
started to improve! After only a few days in Montreal, Bethany
was nursing quicker and I had less pain. Bethany has just
turned one, and is still nursing about 3-4 times per day.
I am also expecting our second child, and I hope to nurse both
of our children for as long as they need to. Without Valerie's
help, I would never have made it this far. Thank you from
the bottom of my heart Val!
Sincerely,
- Michelle Sanders
